we'll talk about the timing and how much is you -- how much you can see in a few minutes. thank you. and drivers beware. a closure is going to have a big impact on your commute. a section of highway 169 is closed for several months.
mary ann mcgwire joins us live with more on what mile per hour dot is working on. this is a project that got delayed a couple of times. reporter: yeah, that was because of weather and the second delay was because the utility company needed more
time to secure a line near a bridge being demolished. but, the big morning is finally here. your commute is going to look different this morning. light look at the map to show you exactly what i am talking about.
both directions of my 1 -- hoe 169 between bren road and seventh street will be closed as the bridge is replaced. mndot suggests commuters take highway 62, hoe 30394. and they should take 394 and 494 to get around the closure. and this will affect commuters
in golden valley, plymouth, st. louis park, minnetonka, hopkins and edina. firsta top is workers replacing the 9-mile creak bridge and replacing it with a causeway. it will take a month to demolish the old bridge. they will replace concrete
barriers and make it easier for pedestrians earn the area. i have been checking in on the edin applies twitter account. they will have extra officers on the roots and traffic cameras out to monitor the commuters that might be delayed by the detours in place now.
that this portion of 169 is closed. and, mary, sounds like this stretch is going to be closed for some type. this particular closure is expected to last through october, weather permitting. the good news.
