hi, i’m monica from close to my heart, and today we’ve got a sweet project that would make a great baby shower gift, or just some great dã©cor for your own nursery; a baby mobile using the penelope paper packet! the penelope paper packet has a lot of bright tones, but you can see that this mobile has a much softer color scheme, don’t you just love it? let’s get started! alright, so i’ve got my artistry cartridge,
that’s what i’ve used to cut out all of these icons, you can see the stars as well as the moon, isn’t that so cute? it’s on page 25, and now i’ve also used, to get the clouds, on page 38. so here you can see that’s what i’ve done, and i’ve cut them out all different sizes because i want different sizes for my mobile. so you can see the stars, the moon, you’ve got it all, right in this cartridge, so fun.
you want to make sure that you do the mirroring function, mirror function. the reason for that is you want to be able to use the same pattern on both sides. so like with this moon, you can see i’ve got the striped paper on both sides. so by using the mirroring function i can do that with patterned paper. so i’ve also done that with the clouds but with my stars i didn’t need to do that because they’re all the same so it really didn’t matter,
so i didn’t need to do the mirror function but i’ve got all the different sizes for my stars. i did do it for my clouds because what you can’t really see through the video though, is that i do have patterns; there’s some with gingham pattern, there’s some with polka dots, and they go together by doing the mirror pattern, so you can see using the mirror function how it all works together.
now, i’m ready to put my mobile together. i’ve got 4 stars here and i’m going to use my bone folder to score a line, right down the center, alright? so make sure that you’ve got that good score there because when you bend that over that’s what’s gonna keep your string in place when you put your other side of your star. so i’m gonna do one more star because i’m gonna put those together,
again you’re going to score all of your images right down the center, i’ve used our bone folder, and there you can see it’s very, very easy to get that fold very perfectly in place. alright so here i’ve got one that’s already been put together, and you can see i’m missing that one piece, and the reason is i’m going to be putting my twine right there. so here i’m using our thick twine, and it’s a great way to string all of your icons together
that put your mobile together. i’ve already got one done; this one’s got a cloud and a small star on it. now i’m going to show you easy it is to add these on to the twine. so, i’ve got this one that i’ve already put 3 sides to it, now i’m going to use my scrapbook adhesive, i’m going to do a lot of adhesive because you want to make sure that it all stays very well put together. so i’ve to my other star piece; i’m going to
put that right down the center, there you go, where i scored it and it’s all been glued together, and now i’m going to take my other star piece, flip it over because i want the same pattern and again, lots of adhesive don’t be afraid to use too much adhesive, you can’t use too much. alright, so now i’m going to put that on top of my other side of my twine and i’ve sandwiched it in there and it just holds it right in place, and because i pre-scored everything,
it all bends so that it has that dimensional look, isn’t that so cool? you’ve got all 4 sides there showing, 3 sides, yep, alright. so now let’s do the cloud it’s the same exact technique. i’ve already glued those other pieces together that i’ve pre scored and now putting my adhesive, put a little space in between, and now i’m going to find that same pattern, this one i’m going to put some more adhesive, and because i used the mirror function i’m able to line them
up so that they fit perfectly showcasing the same pattern. so this one’s got a little bit of a dot pattern, it’s super cute and i’ve got the gingham pattern in the clouds, very, very easy. that’s all you have to do! such a sweet and simple project that babies are sure to love. show us your mobiles by using the hashtag #ctmhmobile. for more information about this project and the products used in this video,
