diy ornaments christmas

trini: welcome back to "living 808." now, why buy when you can make something unique and beautiful yourself? in today's craft connections, it's all about do-it-yourself ornaments. the holidays are just around the

corner. it's time to think about these things. here to help us out, joy shimabukuro, creative director at housemart ben franklin crafts. hello, joy. hi.

trini: long time no see, i've missed you. it's that crafty time of the years. trini: ornaments, is it just for christmas? when you think of ornament, you think of christmas. people do easter ornament,

they do special occasion on occasion there's a lot of clear ornaments but they come in different shapes. and these are plastic so they're great for the kids. we have traditional glass, but you can do things with clear. all of these here are plastic

trini: i will say we had sign-ups for my children's school for crafts. they said we're going to be making ornaments. please provide plastic good to know where we can get them. it's not just -- we're going

to do a halloween one. you're going to make one of these. it's super easy. it's one of our favorite products for a couple years. you're going to take this. this is a product called glitter-in.

and that's what it does. it makes all these glitters. all you got to do is, it's a clear liquid. all you're going to do is pour some in. trini: it's called glitter in? glitter it.

pour some in there. and you're going to swirl it around. i suggest you take a paper towellal and cover that so you can kind of*coat the whole inside. yeah. trini: is this like a glue?

kind of like a glue. the thing is, you got these cute funnels you're going to use. trini: that's how you get it in without spilling? sort of. there's other ways but this makes it more fun. what we'll do is pour the rest

out so that it's the all over place. there you go. okay. so now, all you're going to do is take your funnel, put it in there and shake your glitter in. maybe do it over the paper towel.

trini: i'm going to do it up here so we can see it. i've never seen a little funnel this small. it's pretty cool. it works pretty well. trini: i just pour it in. and i notice you've got the halloween color.

there's all kind of colors. trini: do you guys -- that's enough. trini: and you shake it around again? we're going to put this over so you don't get it all over. and shake it. make sure it gets coated all

over the place. trini: i had no idea this is how you do it. it. there's old-fashioned ways but this makes it really easy. all you're going to do later is shake out the excess glitter. i will suggest dog doing it on your

paper so you can put is it put it back in your bottle. if you see some empty spots you you can put more glitter in. trini: usually if they're looking for a crafty parent, i never sign up j?? why? trini: you taught me

something i can teach the third graders. after this, -- right. i can give you this pen. it's a deco marker. and if you want to draw a face or if you want to write your name, you can do that, too. trini: how about i do live --

perfect. trini: "living 808." there we go. these are great for personalizing ornaments. the other way, i did the pumpkin face is i used some black vinyl, and i cut out my little triangles.

because it's christmas, there's a lot of things. to match with the glitter, i took a christmas pick and put out pumpkin leaves. trini: i love that. it's really easy. there's so many things you can do.

trini: you can find all of this at ben franklin crafts. and you have location all over the place. yes.
